Live Ice Sculpture Performances on Jan. 29 & 30 in Lakeview

Organized by SSA 27, enjoy a live ice sculpture performance in Lakeview to liven up your winter on Sat, 1/29 from 4-6pm and Sun, 1/30 from 12-2pm at Southport & Wellington outside of St. Alphonsus Church. Watch the artist make winter magic happen as they sculpt a block of ice into a beautiful creation of the audience’s choosing! That’s right — bring your ideas, as the ice sculptor will ask the audience for suggestions of what to create.

SSA 27 will provide food trucks on both days of the event, offering complimentary beverages and pastries to help keep attendees warm. This is a great event for the whole family or the perfect stop on a romantic winter date!

Call for Walls in West Lakeview

Since 2017, the Lakeview Public Art Committee has worked to identify innovative artists and secure funding to support the display of public works of art in highly-visible locations throughout West Lakeview. For every new mural brought to the community, there are countless hours spent reaching out to property owners getting permission to install a mural on their building walls. Over 16 murals and exhibits have been installed to date, and now, we need your help!

The Lakeview Public Art Committee is calling on all landlords, tenants, neighborhood groups and business owners to submit ideas for highly-visible walls to host new pieces of public art in 2022 and beyond. If you own a building or know someone who owns a building that would like to feature a new mural, please get in touch with Nicole McLellan at Nicole@lrvcc.org or call 773 472 7171 x102 to provide more details and discuss feasibility of a new piece of public art.
