Lincoln Hub Summer Workout Series is Back!
Break out your yoga mats - the Lincoln Hub Summer Workout Series is BACK this summer, with new times and location! Every Monday and Tuesday, June 7 to August 31 from 5pm-7pm, the Lakeview Roscoe Village Chamber will host back-to-back workouts from our local fitness partners. Thanks to the Chicago Park District, all classes will run at South Lakeview Park (1300 W. Wolfram Street). We’re excited to bring you a variety of workouts for all levels with classes from Lakeshore Sport & Fitness, Pure Barre Lakeview, Evolve Fitness, Power Sculpt Fitness, The Peace School & CrossTown Fitness. Our local fitness businesses are ready to help you find your new favorite workout. You’ll even score some free Capital One Cafe swag just for showing up! (We stand by coffee as pre-workout fuel. Thank you, coffee.)
PorchFest Lakeview is on Sunday, June 6 & PorchJams Series Starts On June 13
Join us for PorchFest Lakeview, a socially-distanced neighborhood music event featuring local musicians performing across 14 front porches on Sunday, June 6 from 1-5pm. Register to receive an event map with porch locations and showtimes. Continue the porch jams fun this summer with our PorchJams Series featuring weekly concerts taking place on Sundays from 4-6pm on porches in Lakeview and Roscoe Village starting on June 13! Project Windows Coming to West Lakeview This Summer
Special Services Area 27 and the Lakeview Public Art Committee are teaming up with Oak Street Design to bring storefront art exhibits to Lakeview this summer. This initiative is part of Project Windows, an annual initiative hosted by the Art Institute of Chicago in which businesses decorate their storefront around a theme, and then onlookers vote on their favorite storefront art. The 2021 project theme is the Obama Portraits and Bisa Butler Quilts, and will be concentrated on Southport and Lincoln Avenues. Please email ssa27@lrvcc.org with any questions.
Sam Adams Roscoe Village Burger Fest Rescheduled to Sept. 3 - 5 & Lakeview Taco Fest Returns Sept. 18 & 19!
We are excited to announce that Roscoe Village Burger Fest and Sam Adams Lakeview Taco Fest are returning this l! Lakeview Taco Fest will take place on its usual weekend of Sept. 18 & 19 at Southport & Addison, while Roscoe Village Burger Fest has been rescheduled for September 4-5, 2021, at Belmont and Damen. This rescheduled date will allow the Lakeview Roscoe Village Chamber of Commerce and our partners at Chicago Special Events Management to monitor evolving street festival and health guidance from the City to ensure that we have ample time to plan a successful and safe event.
Roscoe Village Farmers Market Starts on Sunday, June 13!
We can’t keep it a secret any longer! We are excited to announce the opening season of the Roscoe Village Farmers Market! This market will provide local, sustainably produced foods to the Roscoe Village community on Sundays from 9:30am - 2pm starting June 13 through October 17 at Jahn Elementary. Get ready to enjoy local produce along with vendors offering fresh breads, pastries, cheeses, coffee, and even ice cream! By prioritizing dedicated, local farmers and makers within walking distance for the community, the market will be a hub of sustainability for shoppers and vendors alike. City Launches New Online System for Public Way Use Permits
As of April 19, the City of Chicago has implemented a new, online application system for BACP Public Way Use permits - which includes sidewalk cafe permits. Existing permittees will need to create and log into the online portal in order to claim their existing permits and manage accounts. Today the National Restaurant Association (NRA) is unveiling a grassroots petition to policy leaders from the White House to the Congress urging additional funds for the RRF to ensure it can provide real relief to the restaurants that need it. ERTC for Small Business Expanded to Include All of 2021
While there hasn’t been a lot of good news for restaurants during the pandemic, the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) contains several helpful measures, especially for smaller businesses. One bright spot is the extension of the Employee Retention Tax Credit (ERTC) from June 30 of this year to December 31, 2021.
