Local Business Spotlight - Journeys for Wellness

Meet Vivien Joy Lamadrid, owner of Journeys for Wellness. She has been a nurse for over 20 years and focuses on a holistic approach to self-care. She offers energy healing, does speaking engagements on stress management and wellness and is a certified health and life coach. Read on to learn more about her business from how it started to her favorite moments and what many people may not know about her business.

Give us a small backstory of how your business started.

I have always wanted to help people beyond the walls of healthcare institutions because I see the challenges and gaps in our healthcare system working as a nurse for the past 20-plus years. My spiritual/wellness journey started in 2001. I was so fascinated with the possibilities of how we can integrate wellness within our healthcare system. In 2012, I started my business with Healing Touch (energy healing). It evolved to help people prepare and recover from surgery using mind-body techniques, speaking engagements on stress management and wellness, and being a certified health and life coach. Since the pandemic, like myself, many people reflect on what they truly want with their lives, and as a health and life coach, I can help through their journey.

What are some of your favorite moments of running your business?

I love seeing the transformation of my clients when they are open to seeing the possibilities and are ready to make changes in their lives. They develop positive, healthy habits and take transformative actions that significantly impact their lives and the people in their lives.

What is one thing many people may not know about you or your business?

I had about 30 plus speaking engagements on stress management, wellness, self-care, and Healing Touch for conferences, workshops, events, and in-services. I look forward to sharing the message on how people can feel empowered by connecting with resources and other support to help create clarity to be the best version of themselves.

Do you have any hobbies that you do outside of running your business?

I love being in nature and exploring different places, and sometimes I get back to playing the piano. I look forward going back to social dancing.

What are some businesses you love in Lakeview or Roscoe Village?

There are quite a number of them, but I love the breakfast and coffee at Julius Meinl, Ann Sathers, Breakfast House & Coffee Bar. I look forward to exploring and supporting other businesses in the community.

What are the best ways people can support your business right now?

The best way to support me is to connect with me and share my services with those looking for more meaning and ready for the next chapter in their lives.
