Black History Month Seminar: Mental Health Concerns Impacting the African American Community

The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office is committed to working with our community partners to help remove the stigma around mental health. This webinar will address the intersectionality between trauma, untreated mental health issues, and substance abuse and how addressing these issues early can prevent violence because "hurt people...hurt people." This webinar will also highlight resources specifically servicing the African American community. The Cook County State's Attorney's Office will talk about the mental health problem-solving courtrooms and representatives from GRO Community, Bobbie E. Wright Comprehensive Behavioral Health, and Hartgrove Behavioral Health will discuss mental health resources for African Americans and some of the disparities and stigmas the African American community faces when addressing mental health concerns.
