In honor and recognition of LGBTQ+ Month, this month’s Empower Hour will feature BACP Commissioner Ken Meyer chatting with Channyn Lynne Parker, CEO of Brave Space Alliance.

Brave Space Alliance is the first Black trans-founded and led TLGBQ+ center on Chicago's South Side. We are dedicated to providing dignified and culturally affirming services and programs to primarily TLGBQ+ and Black and Brown communities within our Four Pillars of Dignity in health, housing services, food, and identity. We strive to empower, embolden, and educate community members through mutual aid and co-creating and sustaining spaces for connection, shared learning, health and wellness, and creativity.

Appointed as CEO in May 2023, Channyn Lynne Parker is a human rights advocate, community-centric leader, public speaker, and recipient of the Henrietta Lacks Award, Women in Health in Chicago Award (2018), and Equality Illinois' prestigious Freedom Award (2019).

This candid conversation will cover the history of the nonprofit, board engagement, strategy planning, and community engagement. The webinar will end with a Q&A for attendees to ask questions.
