SSA 27 IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD

SSA 27 has been busy supporting our neighborhood, enhancing public spaces, and bringing our community closer together! Not only does SSA 27 support public space, but they help fund events such as the Lincoln Ave Art & Craft Fair, Wake Up with your Pup, and The Chicago International Film Fest Block Party!

About Special Service Area 27: Special Service Area (SSA) 27 works to make Lakeview a neighborhood where people wish to live, linger and long to return. SSAs are a funding mechanism to raise money for services to a designated mixed-use area through a property tax levy in order to supplement City services. The Lakeview Roscoe Village Chamber of Commerce is the Sole Service Provider for SSA 27, which was established in December 2003. It manages SSA-funded programs under the oversight of the SSA 27 Board of Commissioners.

New art installation at the Lakeview Low-Line by artist POCHIS! Titled Low-Line Lisas of Lakeview, the exhibit includes three pieces across two art panels exploring friendship, coming of age, beauty, nostalgia and regret. Come check these out at Ashland (3411 N Ashland) and Paulina (3411 N Paulina) Plazas of the Low-Line!

Another new art installation at Southport Plaza of the Low-Line! Presented by the Lakeview Public Art Committee and funded by Special Service Area 27, "Filter" by Daniel Wilson aims to shed light on the different ways we might use filters, especially through social media. The artist invites you to consider: how true a view of the world are we seeing through social media?

Lincoln Ave Art & Craft Fair

With support from SSA 27, this fair features a variety of art at all price points including paintings, sculptures, ceramics, jewelry, fashion wearables and more; all hand made by artists and artisans. Live music all weekend long, festival food, and interactive art activities for kids hosted by local businesses make this a fun-filled must attend event!

Wake Up with your Pup!

SSA 27 funded a lazy Sunday filled with free treats for community members and their pups! There was complimentary coffee and donuts, doggy treats and accessories, and a special photo opp that made memories with furever friends.

Chicago International Film Festival Block Party

Lakeview Special Service Area (SSA) 27 is pleased to offer its Community Events & Placemaking Grant Program, which provides up to $5,000 in financial assistance and technical support for unique events and projects taking place in the Lakeview neighborhood, such as the Block Party!

With funding from SSA 27, the Program furthers our goals to create memorable experiences and promote the neighborhood within the boundaries of the SSA.
