The COVID-19 pandemic has brought to light an increased amount of hate against Asian American Pacific Islander communities. We have the power to take a stand and stop AAPI hate. While this is by no means an exhaustive list, here are a few things you can do now to help stop AAPI hate.

SUPPORT. Our community is home to several incredible Asian-American owned local businesses. As you look for ways to help the Asian American and Pacific Islander community and Stop AAPI Hate, support Asian-American owned businesses in Lakeview and Roscoe Village. Grab your next meal from Sushi Mura, Kai Sushi Lakeview, Pho’s Thai Cuisine, Thai Thank You, Le Sud or Pokiology. Stop by Coffee Lab and Roasters or Botanical Café for your caffeine boost. Take care of your health with a visit to Blink Chicago, Zephyr Dental or Truly Chiropractic. Shop your heart out at Building Blocks Toy Store and And Studio, or get your next mani/pedi done at expert salons Blossom Nails and Nail Junkie Chicago. Shop stores, order takeout, or simply let these businesses know how much you appreciate them.

GET TRAINED. Advancing Justice Chicago in partnership with Hollaback! and CAIR-Chicago are offering free bystander hate incident intervention trainings for community members. These one-hour online trainings will provide you with tools to help you leave feeling confident in your ability to intervene safely the next time you witness Anti-Asian harassment. Find dates and register for a training here.

Hollaback! also offers a myriad of other community trainings and programs surrounding bystander intervention and anti-harassment. You can find there full menu of trainings via their website.

REPORT. If you see something, say something. Reporting an incident can help support a movement by helping analyze what is happening to continue to guide the movement towards justice. Encouraging those who have experienced hate crimes to report their situations can also be empowering for the victim. You can report an instance of AAPI hate on the Stop AAPI hate website.

DONATE. You can donate directly to Stop AAPI Hate, or to any of the Go Fund Me campaigns created to raise money for this cause including Support The Cause Against Anti-Asian Violence and Victims of Violent Crimes in the Bay Area.
