Upcoming Construction Projects In Lakeview

CDOT's Lincoln-Ashland-Belmont Section 2 Improvements Start Soon

We are sharing the following information from CDOT to the public and neighborhood businesses. As CDOT states, "Throughout construction the streets will remain open to motorists and pedestrians and access to businesses will be maintained. In order to keep the street open to traffic, parking will not be allowed in the area of active construction. In addition, there will be periodic parking restrictions on some side streets. Additionally,  CTA routes will not be affected.” We will continue to share updates with businesses and residences as we receive them.

Project Boundaries:

Lincoln Avenue from Wellington Avenue to Melrose Street

Ashland Avenue from Barry Avenue to School Street

Belmont Avenue from Ashland Avenue to Southport Avenue

Project Description:

Beginning in Spring 2022, Lincoln, Ashland, and Belmont Avenues will be improved as the City renovates the streets with infrastructure improvements and streetscape elements. The project will consist of numerous improvements, including full-width resurfacing, widened sidewalks, new lighting and traffic signals, new crosswalks, street trees, landscaping, community identifiers and other pedestrian amenities.  The Lincoln-Ashland-Belmont intersection will be reconfigured to improve traffic and pedestrian safety.  The improvements will also include an improved plaza space at the northwest corner of the intersection.

Asphalt Restoration of Ashland from Belmont to Addison

Starting late this week or next week, work will begin to repave the portions of Ashland between Belmont and Addison that were impacted in last year's water main project shortly. Keep an eye out for No Parking signs going up along Ashland. This work will disrupt traffic partially as the existing asphalt is ground and milled (removed) before a new layer of asphalt gets put down.
