City of Chicago COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution

Last week, Mayor Lightfoot and Dr. Arwady announced that Chicago is moving to Phase 1C of the vaccination distribution on Monday, March 29. Under this phase, all essential workers and Chicagoans age 16-64 with underlying medical conditions will be eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Chicagoans that are currently eligible under Phase 1A and 1B, including healthcare workers, essential frontline workers, and residents over the age of 65, will still be eligible.

In Phase 1C, essential workers that are eligible for the vaccine will include workers in all of the following groups:

  • Clergy and religious organizations

  • Energy

  • Finance

  • Food and beverage service

  • Higher Education

  • Information Technology and communications

  • Legal

  • Media

  • Other Community- or Government-based Operations and Essential Functions

  • Personal Care Services and hygiene

  • Public health

  • Public safety

  • Retail

  • Shelter and Housing, including hotel workers

  • Transportation and Logistics

  • Water and wastewater

Please be advised that, due to limited vaccine supply, most essential workers will be vaccinated in April and May. Additional information can be found on the COVID Vaccine Website.
