Project Windows Brings Temporary Art Exhibits to SSA Storefronts

Join Special Services Area 27 and the Lakeview Public Art Committee as they team up with Oak Street Design to bring storefront art exhibits to 14 locations in West Lakeview this summer. This initiative is part of Project Windows, an annual initiative hosted by the Art Institute of Chicago in which businesses decorate their storefront around a theme, and then onlookers vote on their favorite storefront art.

“We are excited to bring community art exhibits to  West Lakeview this summer,” said Nicole McLellan, Community Development Manager at the Lakeview Roscoe Village Chamber of Commerce. “The 2021 project theme focuses on the Obama Portraits and Bisa Butler Quilts, and it is our goal to provide local shoppers with a unique display of artistic design as well as an enriching and eye-opening display of history.”

After a year of online shopping, curbside pick-up orders and virtual events, the Lakeview Public Art Committee and SSA 27 hope to offer citizens the chance to view local artwork as they return to the in-person shopping and dining experience.
